Sloan Product LTD in North Canton, Ohio Offers an Inside Look at One of Their Vehicle Restoration Projects

0
0

Auto painting is one of the most frequently requested services at Sloan Product LTD. Those looking to touch up a faded paint job or completely change the color of a vehicle can count on the staff members at this North Canton, Ohio-based auto body shop to deliver each and every time. Considering the high satisfaction rate among customers who enlist Sloan Product LTD’s help with vehicle restoration, it’s not surprising that many people are interested to learn more about the business’ methods. The auto body and paint technicians at Sloan Product LTD put in a significant amount of time and effort to ensure that every customer is pleased with the end result. Since residents throughout Canton, Ohio; Jackson Township, Ohio; Akron, Ohio; and beyond have expressed a desire to go behind the scenes, Sloan Product LTD has offered an inside look at one of the projects they’re currently working on—a 1938 Ford Coupe that’s scheduled to receive some extensive body work as well as custom House of Kolor Kandy car paint job and custom interior upholstery.

For this particular project, the owner of Sloan Product LTD has done the majority of the work himself with some assistance from his team of skilled auto body and paint technicians. As with most vehicle restorations, this model will require a complete overall strip and color change. Layers of old paint will be removed from the body before Sloan will treat the rusted metal with media blasting and sandblasting. The bare steel will be subjected to a rust converter acid treatment before the body, panels, fenders, doors, and hood are straightened and aligned. Over 300 hours of extensive body work and block sanding will be required to achieve a perfect pallet for one of the auto body shop’s custom Kandy Brandywine paint jobs.

Since this North Canton-based business receives rave reviews for their auto painting service, it only makes sense that the painting process itself would require a lot of time and energy to pull of successfully. Unlike the collision repair paint jobs they routinely perform for individuals throughout Canton, Akron, Jackson Township, and beyond, Sloan’s custom Kandy paint jobs are much more involved. After the body work is completed, Sloan’s auto body and paint technicians apply three coats of a polyester hi-build primer then block sand the vehicle with 150 grit and 220 grit sandpaper. A urethane primer is then applied before the vehicle is sanded again with 220, 320, and 400 grit sandpaper. Though following these steps may seem tedious, it’s part of the reason the auto painting service from Sloan Product LTD is in such high demand. Creating a smooth surface ensures that the paint will go on cleanly and deliver a showroom shine when it’s finished.

Prior to being sent into the paint booth, the vehicle is masked before being covered in two coats of silver sealer and three coats of tinted House of Kolor Orion Silver. This is followed up by five to seven coats of House of Kolor Brandywine Kandy, and then top-coated with three coats of hi-image clear coat. After another round of block sanding with 600 grit sandpaper, the vehicle is given another coat of Kandy Brandywine and four additional coats of House of Kolor show clear coat. After the final coat has been applied, Sloan Product LTD’s team begins the final round of wet sanding and polishing of the custom car paint job. The entire vehicle is wet sanded with 600, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, and 5000 grit wet sand paper then buffed with a polishing compound. The team then applies a polish and a non-swirl sealant on a foam fad.

The 1938 Ford Coupe currently sitting in Sloan Product LTD’s shop won’t just receive custom car paint, but bodywork and upholstery as well. The auto body and paint technicians made some minor changes to the body already, including a Frenched-in license plate box for the new back-up camera, widened front fenders, and smoothed and sculpted drip rail edges along the sides of the roof. To go along with the new paint job, Sloan Product LTD’s team will also be reupholstering the interior to round out this impressive vehicle restoration project. With the amount of care that goes into each project at this local auto body shop, it’s no wonder residents throughout Jackson Township, Ohio; Akron, Ohio; Canton, Ohio; and beyond enlist Sloan Product LTD’s help with auto painting service and more.

Spring is the time when trees are blooming in Minerva, Ohio; North Canton, Ohio; and Hartville, Ohio; and the outdoors are starting to look aesthetically pleasing again rather than nature being bleak from cold and snow. The local junk yard Canton Auto Salvage has an impressive inventory of salvaged cars to fulfill everyone’s need for affordable car parts, whether looking for replacement bumpers or fenders from a winter fender bender, or repairing the air conditioning with affordable auto AC parts in preparation for the upcoming warm weather.

Salt and rocks careening off tires of cars driving through Hartville are a common occurrence, causing cracked and damaged windshields. Going to Canton Auto Salvage, who has an impressive inventory of all years and models of cars, solves this problem with affordable windshields. In North Canton and Minerva, ice can wreak havoc on windshield wipers when one attempts to clear the glass of accumulated ice. There can be too much strain and the windshield wiper motor can no longer keep up with the demands of removing winter precipitation. Finances are safe going to this local junk yard for affordable windshields and windshield wiper motors.

With the inclement weather during the roughest months of winter, more accidents occur on the roads. No one wants to think of these things happening but when it does, it is good to know that local junk yard Canton Auto Salvage offers an assortment of makes and models in various years to replace damage caused to cars. Individuals who prefer to fix their own cars can find an impressive selection of unharmed used replacement fenders and bumpers.

With the nice weather on the horizon, many people want to use their car windows more when driving to feel the warm air and smell the fresh scent of the blooming spring trees, but stress from heavy snow can slow things down. Vehicles may be in need of power window motors and regulators if a window stopped working when attempting to put it up or down; likewise, no one wants to get caught off guard on the hottest day of spring by turning on the AC and getting hit with a wave of warm air. By visiting Canton Auto Salvage for auto AC parts, one knows their wallet will survive if the air conditioner fails to work.

Canton Auto Salvage has the used auto parts that make every part of a vehicle operate to its full potential, including affordable windshields, windshield wiper motors, and power window motors and regulators. Individuals from North Canton, Ohio; Minerva, Ohio; and Hartville, Ohio dread the thought of having to repair their cars because of the potential of it creating a big price tag, but buying used replacement fenders and bumpers helps alleviate the stress of the process. Canton Auto Salvage has the affordable car parts making it more of a pleasure to get a car back up to its owner’s expectations instead of a financial burden.

Law Firm Cybersecurity, a new publication release from the American Bar Association, is a resource that provides law firms with the tools needed to defend against data breach. Male Breast Cancer - Rare but real

0
0

Meet The Giller’s. Kathy and Lee’s story is similar to many: a strong, loving partnership, an inspirational fight, and a family forever changed by a breast cancer diagnosis. However, there’s one twist to this story. It’s not Kathy who has breast cancer, it’s Lee.

“Lee was first diagnosed in 2005 after feeling a small lump in his breast. Even though we knew men could face breast cancer, it didn’t occur to either of us that this is what he might have. In fact, he first went to a dermatologist thinking the lump was just a cyst,” said Kathy. Cancer is still such a frightening word and is fraught with so many dark thoughts. But once the Giller’s got past the initial shock and fear, they circled their wagons and began the fight of their lives.

Like many who face the same diagnosis, Lee had a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. Soon after they decided to celebrate Lee’s declaration of survivorship by walking 60 miles with their children in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day. They named their family team “Breast Man Walking” with the tagline “Male Breast Cancer – Rare but Real!” as a means to raise awareness about the struggle Lee and other men can face.

Since that first event, the Giller’s have walked in 18 more 3-Day events and have raised more than $450,000 to promote breast cancer research, education and outreach. People will ask Kathy how she manages to raise so much money. “Like breast cancer, I’m relentless. I ask everyone, I’m persistent. And family and friends have responded year after year with their incredible generosity and kindness.” On May 7th, the Giller’s will be hosting their 6th annual and final fundraiser along with teammate and friend, Nancy Schrader at The Rail Burger Bar. Anyone interested in attending this private event, is encouraged to call The Rail for reservations at 330-864-7245.

Unfortunately, Lee faced a recurrence in 2012. His disease has spread to his lungs, liver, bones and brain. But if you were to meet him, you would never know he was fighting such an uphill battle. His positive attitude has already helped him surpass the dismal statistics of living with Stage IV breast cancer. “For those who think not enough has been done to advance breast cancer research, I would say that of course, we always need more. We still haven’t found the cure. But we have come a long way and Lee is living proof of that,” said Kathy.

While it is unfair that The Giller family has been so personally hit by breast cancer, their contributions have changed public awareness of breast cancer in innumerable ways. We all long for a day when this disease is just a thing of the past, and new patients can be treated quickly without devastating side effects, and be cured. But until then, Kathy reminds us that we must all continue to fight because “Breast cancer is an equal opportunity employer: any age, any color, and any gender.”

Hide ’n’ Seek: A Survivors Perspective

AKRON, Ohio: Akron native author, survivor and landscape photographer, D. Ford, has published her first ebook ‘Hide ’n’ Seek’. Hide ’n’ Seek provides a glimpse into the psyche of the pursed. It is an anthology of poems depicting predator and prey. Though this is just one of many of her works, Hide n’ Seek is her first ebook to be published on Amazon.com.

Perpetrators walk amongst us without immediate disclosure. To quote Hide ’n’ Seek: “Sadly, they possess access to both common grounds, and safekeeping. While time steals security, and the wounds, they are seeping.”

“I felt compelled to bring a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves,” said author D. Ford. “To prove that one cannot only survive, but thrive. Or shine, as I like to call it! It is merely for the sa-ke of my beloved family that I do not disclose the offenders.” Ford stated. “I believe awareness is key, and complacency potentially dangerous. I believe you’ll find valuable insights into the world of predator and prey compliments of Hide ’n’ Seek.”

D. Ford has resided in Johnstown since the age of seven. Prior to that, she called Akron, Ohio home. Ford first began to write poetry at the age of 8-years-old as an outlet of distraction. As she grew old-er, her love for words began to flourish. Now, upon years of writing, she recognizes it as her passion in life--her outlet, her escape. Ford’s hope for each person is that they too will find their "super power" and never let go!

Hide ’n’ Seek was published on March 20, 2017 on Amazon.com. The direct link to the ebook is here: https://www.amazon.com/Hide-Seek-Anthology-Depicting-Predator-ebook/dp/B06XRXYC3S/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1491053112&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=hide+and+seek+kindle+dee+ford

Beware of the attacking movie goose

Movie goers beware, you may get to play your own part in a horror movie.

A pair of Canadian Geese are reeking havoc on movie goers if they unknowingly get too close to their nest in the theater parking lot in Montrose.

On April 5th at about 6:45 pm, a patron was attacked, knocked to the ground and then chased through the parking lot.

Although no serious injuries were reported by either parties, property owners might want to seek guidance on how to keep the patrons safe as well as the birds. Bystanders claim the birds nest there yearly but there wasn't anything around the birds indicating there were nesting geese.

There is financial assistance available for any child who demonstrates a need.

A new adaptation scaled for student actors, The Pirates of Penzance brings to life a gang of swashbuckling pirates, dainty maidens, bumbling police officers and one very fast-talking Major General in a 70-minute musical romp that will delight the whole family. The Ohio Youth Ensemble Stage was formerly called Summer Youth Musical. Past productions include Alice in Wonderland and Shrek the Musical Jr.. Students from Cuyahoga, Medina and Summit counties regularly participate in the program.

Paduka Press Announces the Release of NonFiction/How-to Book

Heroin—Living and Dying with an Addict You Love

How to Survive when Everyone Dies

Atlanta, GA – April 12, 2017 – Paduka Press is proud to offer the riveting debut work from Youngstown native Robert Hobbs, Heroin—Living and Dying with an Addict You Love, How to Survive when Everyone Dies. Available in bookstores on April 18, 2017.

Heroin is powerful. It can kill you and people you love, even if you have never laid eyes on it. Discover how the epidemic of heroin addiction kills our children, destroys their parents, and shatters families, from an American father’s firsthand account of his experiences battling his son’s addiction.

Author Robert Hobbs candidly shares his personal tragedy and emotional journey while developing a comprehensive how-to guide that all parents, loved ones, and members of the affected community must read. As this enthralling, true-story drama unfolds, readers will learn about heroin and how to navigate the uncharted waters of the heroin addiction recovery process. Readers will learn to prepare for overdose, detoxification, rehabilitation, intensive outpatient programming (IOP), and the recovering addict’s return from living in hopeless infatuation with heroin’s never-ceasing seduction to a normal, yet clean and sober life.

“Bob tells a painful, riveting story of his life, fighting his son’s addiction in his insightful book on heroin addiction and the painful effect on the family. Many addicts die from addiction and many more experience repeated relapses. I implore anyone with an addict in your family to read this book for the knowledge and education about addiction within the family and the struggles experienced by the addict to get clean. This book may save lives.”

—Walter Brooks, PhD, LPC, MAC, NCAC-II, CCS, SAP, Tangu Program Director

“The book was totally riveting, up close, and intensely emotional. I’ve been in the addiction field for nearly 10 years, worked with families and parents and have shared their traumas and experiences, but never from an in-depth perspective as Heroin—Living and Dying with an Addict You Love. This book is a must read for loved ones of someone struggling; it is valuable for information, an intervention, and hope.

—Robert Jordan, NCAC, CAC, CAMSII

Special occasion hairstyling is one of the most popular services available at Scott Talbot Salonspa. Residents from Hudson, Ohio; North Canton, Ohio; Alliance, Ohio; and beyond frequently visit one of the hair salon’s two locations to obtain the help they need before a big event. Those looking for the perfect bridal or prom updo can count on the experienced hair stylists at Scott Talbot Salonspa to offer specific recommendations as well as valuable tips. From intricate hair braiding to soft and subtle hair curling, the technicians at Scott Talbot Salonspa do it all—making their team an excellent resource for individuals who are unsure which look would best fit their features.

To ensure the success of one’s special occasion hairstyling project, it’s important to know when to schedule an appointment at the local hair salon. One of Scott Talbot’s own hair stylists, Kara Scott, encourages brides-to-be to call ahead for trial sessions. By coming in for a practice run, clients can explain what it is they’re looking for in terms of a bridal updo. The hair stylists at Scott Talbot can then play around with hair braiding and curling techniques to see which will best complement a client’s dress, makeup, flowers, and theme. It also provides clients with the opportunity to bring up their likes and dislikes while they’re in the chair. To avoid running into scheduling conflicts, clients should try to book their trial session roughly two months ahead of time. For the actual wedding hairdo, clients should shoot for five months.

Those who have no idea which route to take when it comes to special occasion hairstyling will be pleased to learn that Scott Talbot’s hair stylists can offer some much-needed advice. For starters, it’s crucial to select a bridal or prom updo that highlights the face rather than taking away from it. Those with round faces tend to look best with side swept styles featuring soft, loose strands that frame the face. Those with long faces should consider a long side braid or a half-up, half-down style. Specific looks tend to vary from one person to the next, with some choosing big bohemian braids and others opting for formal chignons. Whatever the case may be, individuals throughout Hudson, North Canton, Alliance, and beyond should bring along any accessories they’d like to use in their locks for the big day.

In addition to bringing along a photo of the bridal or prom updo one desires, those who plan to schedule an appointment at Scott Talbot Salonspa should let the receptionist know if they have an especially full head of hair. Notifying the hair stylists of this ahead of time allows them to better prepare for special occasion hairstyling. Those who are interested in some of the hair braiding and curling techniques used at this reputable hair salon should consider reaching out the staff at one of Scott Talbot’s two locations. Individuals throughout North Canton, Ohio; Alliance, Ohio; Hudson, Ohio; and beyond will undoubtedly be thrilled with how the salon’s technicians add creative twists to popular styles.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Medina, Ohio, Bicentennial Celebration

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 317 E. Liberty Street, Medina, will unveil an historical marker commemorating the church’s 200th anniversary on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 1 p.m., and celebrate its bicentennial with a worship service based on 18th century liturgy on Sunday, April 30, at 9:30 a.m. The public is invited.

On March 11, 1817, the Rev. Roger Searle arrived, a missionary priest from Connecticut, conducted the first formal religious service in Medina County at the home of Zenas Hamilton in Weymouth. Immediately after that service the congregation was officially organized under Episcopal Church canon: “We the subscribers do hereby declare that we are attached and belong to the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States of America, and hereby do on this eleventh day of March 1817, unite ourselves into a congregation by the name of St Paul’s Church of Medina, in the State of Ohio, for the purpose of worshipping Almighty God according to the forms and regulations of said Church. Signed: Rufus Ferris, Miles Seymore, Benjamin Hull, Harvey Hickox, David D. Warner, William Painter, George Warner, Micah B. Welton, Zenas Hamilton.”

On Thursday, the 10th of April, 1817, the congregation cleared the land for a church on a farm near the village of Weymouth. Work began felling the trees in the morning and the service was held in the completed cabin at 4:00 p.m. that day. The log cabin also served as the school, taught by Miss Eliza Northrop. The Congregationalists also worshiped there.

In the 1830s the congregation moved in Medina. The current church building was built in 1884, designed in the Gothic Revival style by Gordon W. Lloyd of Detroit, a noted church architect. The first service was held on Friday, December 19, 1884. Church historian G.F. Smythe has called it “incomparably the finest Episcopal church in any country town at the time” and thanks to the care and regard of subsequent congregations, it remains so today.

An Ohio History Connection marker will be unveiled on Saturday, April 29, to commemorate these events at the current church location 317 E. Liberty Street, Medina. In addition to parish leadership, taking part will be Mayor Dennis Hanwell, State Senate President Larry Obhof, County Commissioner Bill Hutson, and Ms. Beth Thames of US Senator Sherrod Brown’s office.

The historical celebration will continue on Sunday, April 30, with a special celebration based on the Episcopal Church’s Book of Common Prayer of 1789. The first Prayer Book of newly independent Episcopal Church was a simple revision of the Church of England’s book of 1662, with prayers for the monarch removed or amended to refer instead to the new American government. A typical service of the Holy Eucharist in the early 19th Century lasted up to three hours, beginning with the full office of Morning Prayer, followed by the Great Litany, and then the service of Holy Communion. On April 30, the congregation will using only the Communion service for worship.

Preaching at the service on April 30 will be the Rev. Gay Clarke Jennings, president of the Episcopal Church’s House of Deputies, one of two chambers of the denomination’s highest governing body.

Again, the public is invited. (Communion in the Episcopal Church is open to all baptized persons regardless of denomination.)
